Plugins

Description

A Plugin is an extension of VDR.

Therewith functions can be added, that are beyond the scope of VDR, or implements existing ones different. Examples are e.g. the teletext-plugin, or the dvd-plugin. Plugins are mostly released as source code. In contrast to a patch, the source code of VDR itself is not altered.

Installation

The basic installation procedure of all plugins is described in Plugin installation. Specialities, like configuration files or dependencies, are explained on the paticular plugin page or it's README file.

For developers

If you want to make your plugin available to other VDR users, you'll need to make a package that can be easily distributed. The 'Makefile' that has been created by the call to newplugin provides the target 'dist', which does this for you.

Simply change into your source directory and execute 'make dist':

cd VDR/PLUGINS/src/hello
make dist

After this you should find a file named like

vdr-hello-0.0.1.tgz

in your source directory, where 'hello' will be replaced with your actual plugin's name, and '0.0.1' will be your plugin's current version number.

Because the quantity of plugins and VDR itself changes constantly, the following list can neither be complete nor can every plugin work together with the actual VDR version.
