Introduction

DXR3 cards are hardware decoder cards, originally designed for dvd viewing on slow PCs. With such a card you can build a cheap VDR with hardware MPEG decoder. You cannot buy new cards anymore, but ebay and co have often such cards.

Hint

Only em8300 cards are supported.
Please do not buy a DXR2 card because there is no driver for older DXR2 cards. Sigma's newer MPEG4 cards are also unsupported.

Usually thes cards have names like

  • Hollywood Plus
  • DXR3
  • Sigma Designs
  • Real Magic
  • Videologic

Please use the newest drivers from http://dxr3.sourceforge.net. plugin and driver installation.
