Actually I know one channel receivable in Europe that uses CC directly included into the V-PID. VLC can decode those CC subtitles. It's MSNBC on Telstar 12 15°West 12509 V 3198 7/8

I myself have no plans to do that, since there are no NTSC channels (at least that I know of) available here. Besides, looking at
the North American VDR user base is, well, rather few and far between...
