Hi there,
ORF decided to switch some channels to a new transponder early this year. The old channels used to work until 28. February 2005 (some of you may have wondered about the "28Feb05" in the channel name)
This was done for TW1, gotv and all ORF radio channels.
For some mysterious reason, this new transponder is not autodedected by VDR.
I had to manually add at least one channel to my channels.conf, tune to this channel, and now all the other channels are available, too.
Try this one: TW1;ORF:12662:hC56:S19.2E:22000:1010:1011=deu:1013:0:13101:1:1115:0
@Klaus: Maybe you want to replace the old and no longer working TW1 entry in the channels.conf of the VDR package with the new one?
Hope this helps, Michael

I think that's the normal behaviour. How should VDR know about a new transponder?

I thought that the transponders are somehow "linked" together, i.e. every Transponder contains informations about other transponders, which provide infos about more transponders, and so on.
I once tried to start with one single channel in channels.conf, and VDR detected almost all channels automagically, even from other transponders.
There's a setup option, too, "update channel info", "New transponders" IIRC.
bye, Michael

Unfortunately not all providers use it :(

Hm, since some day, "suddenly" i have a lot of new "ORF" in my channels.conf. I only said during vdr "setup" to "scan" for new transponders. Maybe you deactivated it?

No, this option is activated here (If you're talking about "Setup/DVB/Channel info: new Transponders).
Maybe this doesn't work here for the same reason as my "EPG scan" (red button in "Setup/EPG" doesn't work, too)
# grep ORF channels.conf
ORF/ZDF:12670:h:S19.2E:22000:506:507:0:0:13012:0:0:0
I added this channel, too, but get nothing. Do you see anything on this channel?
TW1;ORF:12662:hC56:S19.2E:22000:1010:1011=deu:1013:0:13101:1:1115:0
All these "12662" channels are from the new transponder
and some more not containing "ORF".
TW1 - 28Feb05;ORF:12692:hC56:S19.2E:22000:166:167=deu:168:0:13013:1:1117:0
This are the "old" entries", which are no longer used.
Will those entries disapear some day in near future or do i have to delete them manually?
I'm afraid you have to delete them manually.
I've solved the problem "VDR not deleting old channels" this way: I've got a perl script that sorts the channels.conf from time to time. I modified it so that it prepends a '_' before every channel name. VDR corrects the name and removes the '_'. Channels that still have a _ after some time seem to be old/no longer used, and I delete them.
