Hi,
I am trying to get the plugin to talk to my mediamvp box.
I am using the ctvdr4, and using all the packages from their, i.e. vdrdevel and vdrdevel-plugin-mediamvp.
The Hauppauge box boots, downloads the dongle.bin. It waits on
Contacting Server
I am seeing a packet with ethereal every 8 seconds, but no responds from the plugin.
Using mvpserver stand-alone displays at least a menue on the mediamvp and allows for some internet radio.
I have tried various dongle version (allways changing the version number with in VDR [and restarting VDR afterwards]) I tried the dongle versions people recommend on the VDR-Forum, but have no luck.
Any idea how to troubleshoot this problem further?

did you had a look at the docs?
-------------------------------------------- - Plugin Configuration
It is essential to configure the plugin so that the dongle.bin version number matches the dongle.bin version that you are using, failure to do so may result in effects such as:
+ Constantly returning to the "Contacting servers" screen + Main menu appears, but remote control doesn't work
--------------------------------------------
you will have to provide that number in the vdr with your remote Setup , Plugins, mediamvp, MediaMVP dongle bin Version

As written above (I left the quote), I did do that repeatedly. Unfortunately, without a lot of success.
Any other idea(s)?

I will get that version and try with it.

No, it is just a regular c't VDR system. The funny thing is, the newer versions (mvpserver and mvpvdr) are working, but they need the streamdev plugin, so I'd prefer the plugin.
I will try 23038 and see what happens.
Lars,
I tried 23038. No success. It loads the dongle.bin and tries to find a mediamvp-server without success.
Do you utilize an external tftp-host to serve the dongle.bin, or do you use the mvpserver loader?

I know you've tried mvpserver/mvpvdr and they work, but what about the standalone version within the plugin? My hunch is that this a problem with IP address of the hostname turning out to be 127.0.0.1 which causes the MVP to try to connect to itself!
cheers,
d.
Thanks Dominic,

This was it. Changed hosts to exclude the VDRs hostname from localhost and everything is working.
I even tried vompserver. Both work fine, but I prefer the mediamvp Plugin. I just have to setup some internet radio stations and will be a happy camper.
Thanks again.
