I'm still running an old 1.2.x version of VDR, and my EPG is still not working (empty). There was another guy with a similar problem, but I didn't notice any replies to his question either. So..
Are there people who are running the 1.3 successfully in 64-bit mode and kernel 2.6.x? Maybe I should change now? Is the latest 1.3 stable?

Yes, I'm running 64-bit w/linux-2.6.11.6, vdr-1.3.23 and my epg works just fine.

As usual 1.3.x is developper stuff (not always stable), wait for a 1.4.x version for having something (called ;-) ) stable.

Here it's working perfectly, with EPG (on channels that's broadcast it...) with vdr-1.3.23, kernel 2.6.12-rc2 and dvb-kernel CVS. It's very stable also :-)
And I am in pure 64 bits mode.

We (The Debian VDR Team) had a bugreport for this problem recently, maybe the patch under http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=300702 is what you are looking for?
Regards, Thomas
I am running 1-3.23 on kernel 2.6.11.7 on 64bit 3000 and working fine

Thanks for the hint, I was missing that too :-) You apparently also unsuccessfully tried to solve the gcc4 issues, attached the patch I used. I couldn't test whether a gcc4 compiled vdr actually works yet though. gcc3.3 compiled with that patch works at least.
Btw, you are using an older version of my switch-user-id patch, I removed the command line parameters and made the uid switch mandatory. Otherwise you may end up with files owned by other users just because someone called vdr --help.
