VDR runs just fine on a seagate dockstar, so I see no reason why it shouldn't run on this device, but I don't believe that it has enough power show the TV signal via hdmi.

Well lets see, when it apears, if it will be available to normal people AND if the required driver will be there too.
It's broadcom, so I doubt it: the wolf may lose his teeth but never his nature. At most (if anything) we'll get a binary blob tied to a specific kernel version with no possible upgrade path.
