Are you sure you're not experiencing driver problems? Btw, the vdpau devs are really good about fixing things if you provide them with a sample to work with. A backtrace doesn't hurt either.
I'm not sure about anything: I asked on the mailing list and on the IRC channel and got 0 replies (well, one from the mailing list but it was a reply direct to me from a user telling me he has the same problems).
