UK Channel Logos

I spent some time earlier in Illustrator, sourcing vector images of various UK channel logos from promotional PDFs issued by Freeview, Freesat and Sky and dumped them into individual SVG files for each channel. I've placed them here for now: https://github.com/oldmanuk/uk-channel-logos Ideally these could be used to build a decent set of images for use with VDR (e.g., PearlHD skin), EPG (yaepghd?) and web interface (live). If anyone has any missing channel logos in vector form that they'd like to contribute, feel free. Cheers, Dom

Replacing aging VDR for DVB-S2, again

Hello, in Jaunary I asked your suggestions for hardware capable of doing DVB-S2 and HDTV to replace an old setup. Based on your helpful responses I decided to use: Ascrock M3AUCC AthlonII X3 455 Nvidia GT240 2x SkyStar HD2 (2.6.38.4 mantis works good, but no RC) I worked on my VDR 1.6 setup for many years with liemikuutio patches, text2skin themes, externalplayer plugin launching Oxine... so I decided to replicate that setup first, and it all works great again. Reason I haven't tried VDR 1.7 yet, and that I'm here again, is the GT240 graphics. I could only obtain a 512MB model, which I did even though the supplier said it will be no good for HD on a 107cm LCD TV. Was he trying to sell me more expensive graphics, or that actually makse sense? Thanks.

epgsearch VS autotimer feature wish

Hi! In a very old installation of vdr I used the autotimer plugin to generate some timers as following: Search in EPG of channel 1 (ARD) for Tagesthemen and create a timer for that with the title "ARD Tagesthemen 2230-2300". the timevalues where evaluated from EPG. While autotimer does not work anymore, I tried epgsearch and read the manual, but I think this is not possible at this moment. Would be a nice feature: Something like title = ARD Tagesthemen %starttime%-%endtime% and maybe some more variables as in the EPG menu feature. In the replay of a h264 720p recording I am paused at a mark. 1. Now I press right and start slow motion forward at 1/8 speed. The log shows TrickSpeed: 8 TrickSpeedMode: push H.264 SequenceEndCode TrickSpeedMode: push H.264 SequenceEndCode TrickSpeedMode: push H.264 SequenceEndCode TrickSpeedMode: push H.264 SequenceEndCode PPPPTrickSpeedMode: push H.264 SequenceEndCode PPPPPPPPTrickSpeedMode: push H.264 SequenceEndCode ... In the rythm of the SequenceEndCode messages I see distortions and hold-ups in the video flow. The start is immediate. 2. This time starting at the mark I press play, pause, right and start slow motion forward at 1/8 speed. The log shows TrickSpeed: 8 PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP ... The start is delayed, but there are no distortions and the video flow is steady. So I guess there is something wrong with the SequenceEndCode detection in 1. and in 2. with the delayed start. Joerg

preventing vdr from using a device to record

Hi, I'm now running one vdr instance with 4 dvb devices. One device is crashing quite often and I haven't find a way to automatically detect when it's crashed. (vdr used to issues "unknown picture type message in the past) I'd like to prevent vdr from using it for recordings. Do you know of any plugin or patch that help achieving this ? Ideally I'd love to be able to set priorities and properties to devices. Something like: device #1: can_record, can_do_epg_scan, can_do_liveview, devprio=100 device #2: can_record, can_do_epg_scan, can_do_liveview, devprio=90 device #3: can_do_liveview, devprio=10 Is there a way for plugins to alter *cDevice::GetDevice behavior ? Are there any plans on that matter ? --

DVBSubtitle support in VDR when dvbsubtitle stream is crypted

Finaly this is done, and VDR users who watch Ex-Yu channels and packages like TotalTV can now enjoy even more while watching HBO and such channels. Fix that Reinhard Nißl provided on IRC while debuging this issue is attached and confirmed from me that works. Issue was that dvbsubtitle stream provided by this providers is crypted, but VDR didnt send Spid to decrypt and after all wasn't able to decode and render it. Patched is ci.c file to add Spid and send it to decryption.

Can VDR match EIT on SID only?

It looks like my DVB provider is broadcasting incorrect EIT information. The SIDs listed are correct but the ONID and TSID are invalid. Can VDR ignore the ONID/TSID and match EIT information solely on the SID? Would this be hard to patch? It looks like eit.c would need to be modified so it can retrieve a channel based on SID. Currently it calls Channels.GetByChannelID(getOriginalNetworkId(), getTransportStreamId(), getServiceId()); Would it require anything besides adding a Channels.GetBySIDOnly() function and using that instead?

non standard `.c` extension for C++ files

Dear VDR developers, I am curious why the C++ source files have the extension `.c` and not `.c{c,pp,xx}`. I am asking because I tried to use `scan-build` from Clang/LLVM and by default – and I did not find an option to change that – it treats `.c` files as C files and not C++. Running Clang directly on the `.c` files the following message is displayed. clang: warning: treating 'c' input as 'c++' when in C++ mode, this behavior is deprecated The folks an #llvm helped me and by verifying this putting #ifndef __cplusplus #error Not C++ #endif in a file. Clang can be passed `-x c++` to override that behavior. In the end I renamed the files and adapted `Makefile` to get `scan-build` working and it did not find any errors. Thanks, Paul

This seems to be very promising ! I was a little bit surprised to see in the specifications that it needs a CPU minimum P4 2 Ghz. That is a pity, because it should be great if it could be used in a thinclient like the HP T5000 series with 1 Ghz and 1 Gb.
