VDR 1.7.5 + OSS can not control sound

VDR 1.7.5 + oxine + HDMI output I get sound through the HDMI socket which is good but there is no way to control it from VDR (I am sure there is but I don't know how to) The volume level on the screen goes left or right no problems, I can press the mute button and it works too, except that the actual sound is unaffected. Can somebody clarify please. Does vdr need simply a directory of its own for recordings (in my case I have assigned it /media/video/vdr ) or a unique mount point (in which case I would have to repartition since I have a 1TB hard drive mounted on /media/video but have other folders in /media/video (avi, mpg) Will vdr try to go through /media/video/avi (to my dismay if that is the case!) or just /media/video/vdr Thanks

Possibly corrupt stream for VDR frontends in 1.7.4?

Hello, currently watching HDTV channels using a VDR frontend (streamdev and xineliboutput - current CVS builds) is impossible for me. Watching the recordings (00001.ts) using xine (with VDPAU) works like a charm. I am wondering if there could be a bug in how VDR is presenting the TS data to the frontends. I have just a corrupt video and audio using both plugins. I have also glitches in MPEG2 streams some times, which do not occour when watching the .ts recording directly. Can somebody validate this? Thanks, Artem PS: I saw similar problems while testing the multicast output of streamdev. The STBs I have used for playback did not liked 1500 bytes large packets which streamdev had send out (Xine had no problems in playing them back). When streamdev was changed to send 1316 (7*188) bytes packets the problem was solved for the STBs. Maybe there is something similar with VDR 1.7.4?

vdr 1.7.4 memory leak?

I have setup an HTPC based on oxine + vdr It has 2gigs of RAM and another 2gigs of Swap space Upon booting it uses about 300megs of RAM. 5 hours later (running vdr all this time) I notice most of the ram is in use. Is this a known memory leak or a design feature? If a known memory leak is there a patch for it or we need to wait for 1.7.5? VDR 1.7.4 and TS recording with subs

Hey I tested latest 1.7.4 beta becouse of ts recording feature but sadly its looks like that it won't record everything like its recived. You can notice this with not having dvb subtitles or teletext subtitles support with vlc. Could someone make patch for this so subs would work with vlc and maybe add it to future versions? Patch for vlc or some setting to it get it understand vdr ts format would be ok also.

Streaming recordings

Hi, I was thinking of hacking in some more support to streamdev to support playback of recordings. Early days though. VTP seems easiest to get some playback with the PORT and PROV commands, although SVDRP has some support with the LSTR. Dont want to step on anyones toes, but any thoughts/suggestions? -- Scott

http://www.reel-multimedia.com/en/shop_netclient.php describes a new product by reel that allows streaming of HD content over the network. It includes a hw decoder that supports mpeg2/4 and is to be used with the reelbox avantgarde as server. I'd assume reel has implemented something a bit more sophisticated than streamdev for this, but given the open source nature of their products, I'm wondering if someone has tried looking into using this client with pure VDR? -- Torgeir Veimo torgeir(a)pobox.com

[PATCH] jumpplay patch 1.0 for VDR-1.7.5

Hi! The jumpplay patch for vdr-1.7.5 is available: http://toms-cafe.de/vdr/download/vdr-jumpplay-1.0-1.7.5.diff This patch changes the replay behaviour for recordings that contain editing marks. It allows to immediately continue the replay after jumping forward to the next mark, and to automatically jump over the commercial break to the next "start" mark, if an "end" mark is reached. The features of this patch can be turned on or off in the replay setup. See README.jumpplay included in the patch for details, history and contributors. Tom
