DXR3, which versions to select?

I know this is FAQ, but unfortunately I cannot find any decent answers. So here we go: Which versions of vdr, em8300, vdr-dxr3 and should I select? I want OSD menus, so CVS version of dxr3 plugin is not sufficient. - I've searched with google - tried reading mailing list archives http://www.linuxtv.org/pipermail/vdr/ - Checked http://www.linuxtv.org/vdrwiki/index.php/Dxr3-plugin - I know http://cachalot.mine.nu/src/dxr3/ but don't know really are those with OSD or not, filenames says 'cvs something' IMHO, http://www.linuxtv.org/vdrwiki/index.php/Dxr3-plugin would be right place to answer this question. -- M. VDR, XMLTV on single channel

Hi, as you know xmltv2vdr is made for complete EPG replacement for VDR. I want to add xmltv-data to EPG for some channels. For example discovery-channel has just now/next info, and I want to import full EPG for just this channel, and use DVB supplied EPG for others. This is because tv_grab_fi with all channels takes a lot of time, and I don't get satellite info from there (I've DVB-C & DVB-S -system). I modified xmltv2vdr.pl just by dropping "CLRE"-command and its response, so other channels would not clear. It ran ok, but after tuning to discovery still no extended EPG. I am guessing that to fix this I need to make EPG-scan to 0, but I don't want to do that. Any ideas? Possible ideas: - EPG scan to 0 - doesn't update other channels - modify xmltv2vdr to make "scan" -command? - change PCR pid (or what is the data pid) to false value - VDR 'auto-pid' will detect this and change it? - other problems on channel - and will not turn off 'auto-pid' because satellite entries constantly changes - change VDR EPG handling and configuration, with 'no_auto_epg'-flag on channels.conf. For example to same flag-field like polarity etc. - add SVDRP CLRE-command a parameter: channel to be cleared. Or is there more simple solutions? Best regards, Jori

Hi I 'm using a complex architecture using a web based application, but the same can be easily realized using "scantv" utility coming with xawtv, You can scan with scantv, who return frequencies and Name stations from vbi, and then analyze his stdout with a script to compose a valid channels.conf Regards Angelo First, thanks for your tips. Is it possible to compile xawtv and further to use scantv without installed X? [ANNOUNCE] bitstreamout plugin 0.83 (sound loop through sound card)

Hi, I've just uploaded the bitstreamout plugin verion 0.83. Due to problems with the new Audio menu interface you have to patch the VDR version 1.3.23 with the patch vdr-1.3.23-skip.dif. After that please recompile VDR and then build the bitstreamout plugin. In my current working version 0.84 I'm able to switch Audio without that patch (removing the receiver before changing the Mpeg Audio Pid and re-attaching it afterwords) _but_ I'll get a black screen if a recording of the curent channel is started on the primary device. identifying advertisements

Hello, I've found a really old thread about this topic (Proposal: cutting out advertising automatically, October 2002). And nothing since that time. Could anyone find a reliable solution? I have one simple suggestion, but I'm not a programmer or mpeg expert, so please tell me if it's a possible solution or not. Most of the advertisements seems to be louder than the "normal" sound. If you analise the sound, you'll find that it isn't louder! But if you check, you'll find that the sound track is equilezed to sound better (quiet sounds made louder), so that the average loudness is higher. So the solution could be to check the average loudness of the sound stream. Maybe a plugin can automatically check this and places cutting marks in recordings (maybe real-time?) and/or can mute/unmute (or replace picture with an "advertisement blocked" message) when watching the live stream. Problem with ABC2 on a dxr3

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed a problem with the Australian DVB-T channel ABC2 (which started broadcasts earlier this month). On my dxr3 based system the bottom 3/8 or so of the screen flickers. It seems like it only updates every other frame. The top of the frame appears normal. Has anyone else noticed this? I can post a sample of the ts that causes this if it helps anyone
